Monster Hunter Outlanders beginner guide: the first 60 minutes
The opening hour decides how fast you get to the good parts. Most early systems are locked behind story missions, so the quickest route is to follow the main quest line until recruitment and the Event Center open, then slow down.
First-hour checklist
- Play the story tutorial. Create your Fated Adventurer and follow the opening quests. Skip side content for now; it is all still there later.
- Beat your first Kulu-Ya-Ku. The first Kulu-Ya-Ku hunt opens the Adventurers Gather mission. Game8 puts this at 25 to 30 minutes, GameSaiyan at 30 to 40.
- Claim mail, then recruit. Collect the pre-registration mail (SR Adventurer Raya and 20 Standard Contracts) and launch gifts before your first pulls.
- Reach Adventure Rank 5 and redeem codes. AR5 unlocks the Event Center. Open its CDKey Redemption tab and enter each working code; rewards arrive by mail.
- Pick one weapon and start co-op. Commit to one weapon type for crafting, then join four-player hunts for faster materials.
Not sure which weapon to commit to? The weapon picker asks four questions. If your first pulls look weak, check the reroll guide before you sink more time into the account, since a reroll costs another half hour.
Is Monster Hunter Outlanders a gacha game?
Yes, but only for characters. You recruit adventurers (AI teammates with their own weapons and skills) from Featured and Standard banners. Your own hunter, the Fated Adventurer, and all weapons and armor come from hunting and crafting, as in the main series. Buddy banners were removed after the second closed beta.

The honest maths: reaching Standard pity with Rutacoins alone costs 90 × 150 = 13,500 coins, or about 30 weeks of daily and weekly income. Event contracts and codes cut that a lot, which is why the codes page is worth checking each patch. Also note that Standard Contracts cannot be spent on the Featured banner, according to GameSaiyan.
Level Infinite vs Garena: which version to download
Two companies publish the same game. Pick the client for the country you live in, because accounts are separate and progress cannot move between regions, according to the official pre-download notes reported by Pocket Gamer.

Pocket Gamer also lists Korea, Hong Kong, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America under Garena. Only that one source says so, and some early press names Garena as the sole publisher, so check your local store listing.
Monster Hunter Outlanders release date and timeline
Servers opened at 22:00 UTC on October 28, 2026. That was 06:00 on October 29 in Singapore and Manila, 07:00 in Tokyo, and 15:00 PT or 18:00 ET on October 28 in the US. The October 29 date was announced in late September, after a Tokyo Game Show trailer on September 16.
It is a mobile game only. There is no PC client and no announced console version, so PC players rely on emulators; the PC guide covers the setup and the ban risk. Once you are in, the tier list and monster weakness finder are the two tools most players use daily.

Yes. It is a free download on the App Store and Google Play with optional in-app purchases. The developers confirmed a free-to-play model with paid content, and Pocket Gamer notes the story and gear can be progressed without spending.
Is Monster Hunter Outlanders a gacha game?
Yes, for characters. Adventurers come from Featured and Standard recruitment banners with pity at 90 (Standard) and 120 (Featured) pulls, based on closed-beta data. Weapons and armor are crafted from monster materials, not pulled.
What platforms is MHO on?
iOS and Android only. The official site recommends iOS 17 or Android 12 and a device with at least 6 GB of RAM. There is no official PC or console version; on PC people use Android emulators at their own risk.
Should I download the Level Infinite or Garena version?
Use the version for the region you live in. Level Infinite runs the global client for North America, Europe and Japan; Garena runs Southeast Asia. Accounts are separate and progress cannot be moved between them, so friends in different regions may not be able to play together.
How many players can join a hunt?
Up to four. Several guides and launch coverage agree on four-player co-op, and you can also hunt with NPC adventurers and a Buddy.
